Fad Diets

As the bikini wearing season is upon on, I thought I would talk about fad diets and low fat foods. I am all for women improving their body image if they need to, but I have issues with the ingredients in many low fat products.

A few years ago I read an article about why French women are so slim, considering they have pastries, cakes and dishes loaded with cream at their disposal. Apparently the secret is that they have a small slice of the cake whereas other women eat the whole cake and wonder why they have three chins?

I believe you shouldn’t deprive yourself but cut down, like having  a thin spread of butter on your toast far better than those low fat spreads full of chemicals. A small piece of cake, etc… Size matters!! Portion control. Don’t buy into these tasteless fat free products, the chemicals will do you more harm. And don’t get me starter on sweeteners!!!

The other important factor is your skin needs a certain amount of fat for the collagen and to keep it plump, if you lose too much weight, you’ll get that hollow look which is very ageing, a plumper skin keeps the wrinkles at bay.

So enjoy what you eat, but too much of it…
