Fat free Yogurt.

Fat free products seems to be an ideal way to loose weight. It seems, you can have your cake and it eat if it’s fat free of course, but what the nutritionist fail to reveal is that Fat free/gluten free products notably fat free yogurt have lots of hidden sugar in that causes more damage and counterpoint any health benefits. You’re better off having the non fat free that has good bacteria for your gut, will help with your calcium and taste infinitely better.

I now bake my own bread to avoid buying gluten free products(loaded with salt and sugar) as when you bake you own bread you’re minimising the additives they put in shop bought bread. Get your bake on people!

Dentist!

Hello,

How are we doing? I thought I would share my experience at my dentist and try and help you save money as well.

I was having some pain and it transpires that I needed a tooth out as well as root canal treatment including possible implants… you get the picture. The dentist told me that one of my filling had been fitted too close to the nerve, completely forgetting he had done this. They then gave me a dental plan that totalled £1,000. Is it any wonder dentists drive fabulous cars? I have had two teeth out before, one needlessly as I have found out recently.

So I decided to tackle this the natural way. I bought some clove oil, coconut oil for oil pull that cleans and soothes irritated gums, swilled with hot water and salt that disinfects the teeth/gums and had a bottle of corsodyl for good measure.

I’m not saying that that is the solution but it helped calm things down and have you ever been to a dentist and not left without paying for something?

Christmas Shopping Tips

Right about now if you’re carnivorous you’ll be thinking about ordering that Turkey, but hold off my friends as you’ll be ripped off.

Why not try and wait until Christmas Eve – have something in reserve – but around three hours before closing time the supermarkets will slash the price of all Turkey stock. I have always done this for years and it has never failed me. You’ll also be doing your bit to combat food wastage and wouldn’t it feel even sweeter to get that Turkey 75% off?

SPF

Hello,

During the wonderful weather we have been experiencing – enjoy it while it lasts as it will be snowing before you know it – we are well versed in the importance of slathering SPF on our faces to protect us from the deadly sun’s rays but you must ensure that you clean your face with care as SPF will block you pores. I always use a flannel to wash my face to scrub off every bit of SPF. A basic flannel is a great skin exfoliate and acts as a wonderful body scrub. You don’t need anything else in the shower other than a flannel and soap. Don’t go anywhere near those disgusting nylon body washes. I dispense with an SPF in winter but I have olive skin but do try to minimise the use of it in winter as beauty companies say you need to apply it in winter but they want to sell products and many skin problems begin with too much SPF and not enough thorough cleansing.

Soap Bar.

Hello,

I have written about my difficult hair(unruly, mad hair) but recently I have seen clarifying shampoo back in fashion and hairdressers offering clay mask to cleanse the scalp and hair of build – but at a hefty price.

When I washed my hair recently I massaged my scalp with lemon juice (this might not be for every hair type, my roots are oily and hair dry) and then before I applied shampoo gave it a scrub with unperfumed soap with a tiny bit of Epsom salt(this is optional) then applied shampoo and conditioner. My hair was noticeably smoother with more body. Less of the fraction of the price of clarifying shampoo or clay masks.

Wild Garlic

Hello,

As you know I am partial to a bit of foraging and I have found wild garlic in a field and urge you to do the same on a walk in the countryside.

You will smell it before you’ll find it and it looks like this(picture below) and I cannot praise it enough. It transforms your cooking from the bland to the sublime. I put it in pasta dishes. curries, smoothies or salads. You can eat it raw or throw it in your cooking. Then, of course there are the health benefits from eating this herb. I would advise to smell it to check it is wild garlic, you’ll smell a garlicky, sweet smell.

Happy foraging!

Be careful what you wish for…

Hello,

As you know I usually write about beauty products and converting food items into beauty products but I am going to write about something that happened to me a few months ago that is beauty unrelated but something for then men of this world to read, and as this is my website therefore it’s my party…

A few months ago, I met a man and he asked me out organically which I was impressed with as I have an aversion to online dating. He seemed nice and there was a spark but during the conversation he let slip that “we’ve just moved in the area,” which I instantly committed to memory.

Anyway, I agreed to meet him as I gave him the benefit of the doubt as in the “we” might suggest: brother, sister or even hamster.

The night before the date, he then kept changing the times we were scheduled to meet and that was an instant red flag, but still I still persevered and went to meet him. All was going well, conversations flowing until I mentioned the “we” thing. There was radio silence with a lot of eye shifting and well…

Men, don’t lie. I know it’s inbuilt in your DNA to do so but sometimes honesty is the best policy. Relationship do implode and there are systematic reasons for you to look elsewhere but 99% of the time it is about sex, isn’t it?

Ice cubes for face.

The renowned make up artist, Charlotte Tilbury is a woman after my own heart.

I have been an great advocate for splashing ice cubes on your face every morning as it de-puffs and closes pores and who should mention, in the Sunday Times Style magazine, that she has bowls of ice cubes lined up at fashion shows? None other than Ms Tilbury.

Cleanse your face and then splash with ice cubes but better still plunge you face in for a few seconds.

So start stocking up your freezer with ice cubes as it works! Especially good for menopausal women as we’re boiling hot anyway and your skin changes with a myriad of problems to contend with.

Sadie ‘ice, ice baby’.

BLACK SEED OIL

A good Indian friend of mine has introduced me to the benefits of black seed oil to help with a myriad of health problems. I have just been diagnosed with slight cholesterol. Don’t ask me why as I don’t eat fatty heart busting junk food but I do love butter on anything… and partial to old-school puddings with lashings of cream, so maybe that’s the problem?!!!

So please read about this product as I am going to try this product as Indians are the pioneers of natural medicine and as I have Indian heritage from my mother’s side I certainly like to explore anything naturally sourced.

BLACK CUMIN / BLACK SEED OIL (NIGELLA SATIVA), COLD-PRESSED OL’VITA

Black cumin (black seed) oil is cold-pressed and crude and it has strong anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, antihistamines and analgesic effect. It contains large amounts of essential unsaturated fatty acids (about 1% omega-3, 58% omega-6 and 25% omega-9) for proper functioning of the organism.
